Many would tell you that you can find some of the best exhibitions of contemporary art in Northern Europe at Kunsthal Charlottenborg where children 15 and under are always free to enter after 5pm and on Wednesdays everyone gets in free after 5pm. They keep regular open hours of noon to 8pm Tuesday through Friday and from 11am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday and you can also watch any of the film screenings at their Art Cinema when you have bought a ticket to the gallery. Throughout the year they also have all kinds of educational programs like lectures, tours, film screenings, and more.

At Nikolaj Kunsthal you will find all kinds of great local Danish and international contemporary art from 11am to 6pm Tuesday through Friday and from 11am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Their exhibitions are always changing throughout the year and they offer great private tours including one of the Nikolaj Tower where you can get a great view of the city plus there are various lectures, concerts, and performances throughout the year.

The largest art museum near you is the National Gallery of Denmark in Copenhagen which has over 250,000 unique works in their collection that nearly 400,000 people check out every year and some of their works get loaned out to other museums, churches, and state-operated institutions. Head over to see what they have to offer from 10am to 6pm most days and stay but they are closed all day Monday and stay open until 8pm on Wednesday.

The projects you will see at The Cisterns are site specific and you will not find them replicated anywhere else in the world. They are open from 11am to 6pm most days but stay open until 8pm on Thursday and are closed on Monday providing a unique exhibition space for underground contemporary artists in your area while putting on a few educational programs including popular painting workshops.

There are more than 10,000 archaeological items and pieces of art at The Glyptoteket who is open from 10am to 5pm throughout the week except Monday when they are closed and Thursday when they stay open until 9pm. Free tours are available on Tuesdays and some of their more popular exhibits include an Egyptian tomb with real mummies, The Water Mother, and they have a great collection of sculptures.

The Carl Nielsen Statue was actually created by his wife Anne Marie over 80 years ago and some call this statue The Genius of Music.
