The Musée des Beaux-Arts is open from 10am to 6pm Wednesday through Sunday though on Friday it is actually open at 10:30am and it is housed in a 17th century Benedictine monastery on the Place des Terreaux in the center of the Presqu’île. The old cloister has been transformed into a sculpture park and the encyclopedic collections of the museum provide a panorama of renowned civilizations and artistic schools from Antiquity to the present day in five departments and 70 rooms providing an unparalleled trip through 5,000 years of art and history.

The macLyon Collection now numbers 1,450 pieces the vast majority of which have been featured in the museum’s collective or monographic exhibitions.

The collection of the Institut D’Art Contemporain in your area contains nearly 1,900 works by over 800 nationally and internationally renowned artists with whom IAC frequently has a close and long-term relationship. Daniel Buren, Dan Graham, Anish Kapoor, On Kawara, Mario Merz, and Gerhard Richter are among the artists represented in the exhibition.
